And, now that the restaurant has slowed down a bit, time to clean, and ...
Chris has added me on Facebook. I don't play facebook, never post updates, but it's become a new way to torment the chef at work: "Why don't you add me as a friend on facebook?" I ask....
I know damned well, I wouldn't ask me either...
Eventually he caves, adds me, removes me, adjusts some filters and settings so presumably friends and family can't see my posts...
So it begins. Chris and I, we begin asking him questions. Questions like: "How old was Smeagol when he lost the ring...?" and "What kind of dragon makes the best pet?" and "Do you think Shadowfax was better than Pegasus?" and "Dumbledore VS Gandalf...?", and Ken, poor Ken, he can't help himself, he has to answer..."Shadowfax couldn't fly..." and "Galdalf the Grey or Gandalf the White...?".
It's too easy this, shooting fish in a barrel, but it's some slight entertainment to tide me over until I can attend my own devices...

Countdown
So, according to the information I've been given, 10, now 9 shifts to go. And the owners are humming and hawing about closing early, maybe even as early as this weekend.
I'm cheering for early. I'm done, it was a long summer. I want to be free now. A few short weeks ago there was the smoke from the fires in the US, then the rain, now the leaves are turning and there's a chill in the air and I'm missing my creative projects, a place to live (other than a sofa), time to get on with other projects too long deferred.
Now that it's out there I can't wait, a few shifts - hopefully - left, then up the mountain to gather more crystals (and there's snow now on the peaks, creeping slowly down, and I'm gathering at high elevations so this is not good news...), time to find a place to live, get organized and warm for the winter, start again the habit of writing (and there's been lots but the blog, well, it takes some regular access to a computer), ....
Restless. Fall is without a doubt my favorite season, yet I need a place to live and the time to enjoy it...

The Presidential Debate
I heard this for about 15 minutes on the radio, then had to turn it off. Incredible, although, really, I didn't expect any better. But to every American that ever bought into their mythology that Capitalism rewards the best, to anyone that thinks they live in a Democracy or that these two clowns in any way represent the brightest, most educated members of their population - well, it should be your wake-up call.
A civil war is brewing, and if Canada had legs we should be up and walking a little closer to Europe or New Zealand, things down there are about to get real bad.
And as scathing as the analysis and news was, none went far enough: The US is done, done, done and over.
Then, the news this morning that POTUS and FLOTUS had both tested positive for the virus - well, fair, but unless their treating the President with his own patented quack cures I doubt it will change things much. So now to sit back, get out the popcorn and await the show...

It's been a while since I've caught up with the news, this from the Calgary Herald headlines this morning:
I've linked the whole thing to their dogshit article. The Calgary Herald is so far from reputable journalism it isn't funny. What, exactly, is a "counter-protestor"? Maybe "Racist" or "Karen" or "Police Officer" or "Fascist" would have saved them some typeface...but figuring that out would have required some investigative skills that none of their editors possess...
