Meet the Artist: Suze Mercado

In the spirit of introducing some of the more curious local artists, this one has her art hanging at "The Cantina" at the moment.

I found it ... curious.

Link: Bio on Nelson and District Art's Council, Suze Mercado on Instagram (Sorry, it's a bit all over the place. I couldn't find one for just her paintings.)

The Winlaw Mushroom Artist

And I saw this eating lunch at Mama Sita's in the Valley - curious little acrylic/watercolor (??) paintings of mushrooms.

For a bit I thought they were illustrations from a coloring book. Because the Valley. Nope. Anyways, they were interesting.

I was showing pictures of them to Chris and he was laughing, he wanted to buy the one of the mushrooms/planets/dinosaur climbing moonbeam. Because.

And I understand.

Anyways - you can find her work here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057544416080&sk=photos

I think I'm going to make it a regular thing to start featuring some of the more obscure artists of the area, in a non-judgmental way, because there are hundreds, and some of their work is every bit as interesting or inspiring as that art that I admire. Just in a very different way...

Scintillating Days, Freezing Nights

The days are scintillating and bright on the lake, warm-ish in the sun but still a month or so from spring.

Bright blue skies and freezing nights, every night now a different location, place to sleep and wake every morning in a different location along the lake, this - the taste of freedom, freedom...man of the Valley, morning coffee in Kaslo, Nelson, Balfour, on mornings I don't open as far away as Rossland, and just because, just because I can.

John Wick 4

Clearly this is well outside my normal film tastes, but I had to see.

It was good - FOR WHAT IT WAS!!!.

By which I mean that everyone did a fine job, the Hong Kong Actor who played "Cane" was excellent, a humorous nod to "The Blind Samurai", the fight-scenes, choreography, settings, all amazing. Keanu Reeves trains very well and is in excellent shape to realize the role.

So, temper your expectations to moderate or reasonable and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Now, 4 chapters in and I'm hoping this lays the franchise to rest. Although I doubt it, when has Hollywood ever let a good thing rest?
