The Royal Family

(never in my life have I had so many unsettling restaurant dreams. Probably time it was over...)

I'm in the restaurant not the restaurant, more of a church, up the entry stairs and in the back of the church sitting in a booth there is the Royal Family. Young, pretty, I can't quite see them all, not the Royal Family I was imagining, no Queen Elizabeth, ... some of the regular customers, they've doffed their clothes - donned our outfits - construction jumpsuits, blue with hardhats, for a look, the visitors in the pew, they've all left, they'll be back in the afternoon for tea with the Royals...around me, everyone is making a big deal of grovelling on the floor, rolling around, I merely genuflect and turn to leave, they can barely see us anyways and what's the big deal? I gotta get out of this construction jumpsuit and into my work clothes...

Black Mirror - Season 2

Finished season 1, took forever, only 3 episodes, but uncomfortable, edgy, good - excellent even, the future just left of the present.

Season 2, beginning, episode 1, about a woman who's husband/lover passes away, then discovers she's pregnant, and discovers a beta program that uses the sum of his online presence - videos, etc - to recreate a bot in his image...

I've thought of this ... a lot, a sort of digital afterworld, online Valhalla, Brooker has clearly thought it through...riveted...will his conclusions equal my own?

Back to the show...

***

In the end, not what I had imagined, but no worse, possibly better...

Canada Post (7)

It took, in the end, 6 weeks for the last of my postcards to arrive from Colorado. This was the beginning of the trip, a 5 day advantage over the later sent postcards, some of which arrived within a mere 2 weeks.

Not impressed.

And I'm selling stuff off, mailing out parcels, I have no confidence in the system whatsoever.

Send a book to a friend, Grande Prairie, 3 business days - the ETA provided by Canada Post, mail it on October 1. It arrives October 14th. No wonder nobody uses Canada Post, time to consider Purolater or Fed Ex or Greyhound as our new national mail carrier...it would have been cheaper, quicker, more certain, to order her the same book online, via Amazon, this sending of trifles via quite possibly the worst mail carrier in the world...
