Now, these are popular feel-good videos on my Facebook feed. I'll describe 2 of them.
#1 - Wherein "good people" are shown releasing a wolf, bobcat, cougar, bear, etc. from a trap that wasn't meant to catch them. And of course we all feel good in the end because the animal runs away free and not dead, maybe with a broken paw and pronounced limp for the rest of their disabled and shortened lives, but - hey - they got to live and it was a good deed, no? Actually, No. The trap was set to capture the animal to generate the feel-good content. This is animal abuse and it's shit.
#2 - Some good person takes in or rescues a malnourished stray, often finding it in ridiculously dire straits - eg: tar-pits, mud-holes, etc. They then nourish it and restore it to great health and post the results online. Some - and I mean only some - are probably true. But unfortunately a good many of these are people taking in a perfectly good dog or cat and abusing it to the point of it being unrecognizable, then reversing the order of events before putting it on Facebook. Anything for the likes and up-votes.
So, I'm on Facebook a little bit and too much and - while some of it is harmless and amusing (the treasure-finding videos), a lot of it is upon light-to-none consideration most disturbing. And I'm questioning my involvement in this Empire of Idiots...

Plagiarized! Copyright Infringement!
So, random thoughts, googled "Six-Pack of Gerbils". Which is my phrase, I've used it for years, and then posted it on my blog here http://rodboyle.com/index.php/78-creative/3137-a-six-pack-of-gerbils to ensure that it was correctly attributed to myself.
Before posting I of course - like a lot of ideas - searched google for. And it didn't exist.
Now, googling it I find it has a full 7 results - AND NONE OF THEM ARE MINE!!!
Bloody hell.
Makes me wonder how much else has been lifted here...All that struggle for original expression, scraped to bulk up some other websites content and search results.
Well, at least it's not being used by Pet-Smart, which would lead to a long and costly litigation...

There are tons of articles out there about this - how the architecture of big cities is increasingly designed to discourage homelessness. Think of those "ornamental" triangular bumps that top windowsills, flat areas, or the dividers they put on benches.
But this - in front of a church, no less, this has to take the cake:

Now, I mean, really. If Jesus really did come back as a homeless person he's definitely not crashing on this bench, in front of this church. So I guess they'll be missing out.
It would be impossible to conceive a bigger irony, which I suspect is entirely lost upon them.
Oh, yeah - looking at the photos underlines the fact that I need a new phone/camera. Soon, but not today.

And, fuck, I'm a waiter and I'm ranting about this:
I mean - Subway. Tipping - 18 - 20 -25%
Really? Who's falling for it?
And - yeah, I know, shitty job - but - it's not a 100$ an hour shitty job..
So today - at a generic Pho chain on Robson. Not far from the library. Mediocre, expensive Pho, but I have yet to find better.
And the tipping option comes up "18-20-25-30%"
Like !!! FUCKING HELL!! WHEN WAS 20% not a GOOD FUCKING TIP!!
and - service - sorry - 10% is generous. Really, I mean, I don't tip 10%, but I fucking know what 10% service is and this was it.
