And finally saw this, much anticipated, even more disappointed.
Not that it was bad, it was slow, yes, the theme of disconnect was well achieved through the use of the same voice for all characters, the confusion between the internal/external, monologue, dialogue, the themes of alienation, inability to connect in a meaningful way certainly resonated. And Kaufman, nothing he does is less than great or brilliant, but really, I just needed a happier film...

Interesting, but I'm a fan. And it you took away the fandom it's be a bit of a slog. You can know too much about your idols, this quest to touch or understand them, it devalues them, there was really no point. I like his work. I like him. That was enough. The documentary adds nothing.

Tales of the French Resistance, better than Tarantino's Post Nihilism, the prisoner sharing his last few cigarettes with his fellow prisoners to find the pack crushed empty before it can be returned, easily as bleak as anything Tarantino concieved (not surprising, given the circumstances), but overall less brutal, less bloody style, more story.
