Which reminded me a bit of Jodorowsky's films, well shot, well acted with a handsome young Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, amongst others, and delightfully, obscenely perverse. The true, if not somewhat stylized, history of the Church in France. Makes me curious to see the uncensored version..

Finally I saw it, had been saving it forever, you've seen the trailer, entirely without talking. And it works. It would work better if you could understand sign language, sure, it would hone the impact, would be more precise, but watch it, the cinematography is amazing, the language - without - language done perfectly, an understated masterpiece

It's like somebody heard of "Fury Road" - the amputee in the post-apocalyptic future - but never saw it, and thought to make their own version with mopeds, Mexicans, bad digital amputees..and the hot chick that wants to get with the cannibal that ate her limbs...
Bad. Really bad. They don't even bother to continue digitally removing the leg, just have her wear a prosthetic, and the missing leg varies from scene to scene. Starring Keannu Reeves who apparently has done nothing but eat twinkies since John Wick, and Jim Carrey as himself. Don't waste your time, life is far too short...

Which I saw in Calgary with my daughter. In no ways at all the same as the first movie - a few shared plot points and characters, beautifully shot - amazingly shot - but attempts at profundity rather fail, and easily 20 or 30 minutes too long. In some ways a masterpiece - visually, certainly, but in others - well, not so much. Was glad to have seen it but if I knew I would have been glad to miss it...
