And we're gearing up again for yet another federal election, with not a single candidate, howsoever hopeless, worth voting for. Yet again we're forced to vote against the least of several evils.

As part of any good election there's plenty of media coverage, trying to whip an indifferent public into showing up at the polling stations. No one I've met is all that interested. The CBC is especially amusing, with their animated discussions of the virtues and privilege of voting, touching stories, and of course implicit Liberal agenda.

And there are the phone calls, automated "robots" that start with a long pause, then kick in and with that peculiar echo common to recordings try to anonymously determine how we'll vote: "Press 1 for the Green Party......Press 2 for the..."

The results will be later quoted in newspapers to tell us who's leading the election; what they won't tell us is that only senile imbeciles, confirmed idiots and lonely masturbators will stay on the line long enough to actually "vote" and so the predictions (and later results) will be heavily skewed towards idiocy.

But it's election time, they always are.
